An H.T. (High Tension) Automatic Voltage Stabilizer (also known as an HT AVR) is a heavy-duty regulator used by industrial plants, factories, and commercial facilities to provide a stable, constant voltage supply from the main grid. Installed directly on the High Tension (HT) side of the electrical network (typically 11 KV or 33 KV classes), it protects distribution transformers and downstream equipment from severe voltage drops or surges.
How it Works
Unlike Low Tension (LT) stabilizers that regulate the lower, utilization voltage, an HT stabilizer corrects high input voltages straight from the utility.
- Servo Mechanism: It utilizes a motorized servo-controlled system with helical coils and moving carbon rollers.
- Relay Sensing: Solid-state electronic relays continuously monitor the output voltage. If a fluctuation of more than (pm 1) is detected, the relay triggers a motor that drives the rollers to adjust the coil track.
- Stepless Operation: This adjustment happens smoothly in real-time under active load conditions, meaning the power supply to the plant is never interrupted
